Foreign Office warns of ‘unpredicatable situation’ in Thailand
The Foreign Office has updated its advice for Thailand as the country prepares itself for further political protests.
It warned visitors that the situation is "unpredictable" as the political situation continues to deteriorate.
"There have been calls for an increase in protest action from 13 January, which may cause major disruption to travel on main roads in and around Bangkok," said the FCO advice.
"You should avoid all protests, political gatherings and demonstrations."
Opponents of caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra have threatened to bring the Thai capital to its knees, maintaining blockades of key roads and buildings until the general election is held on February 2.
In response, the PM has asked the military to help police enforce law and order.
Until now, the police have adopted a passive role in face of increasingly volatile demonstrations.
