Four Chinese tourists are dead and more than a dozen more have serious injuries after a tour bus rolled off a Utah state highway and crashed.

The crash happened near Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah.

The bus was carrying 30 people made up of a Chinese tour group and guide.

The three women and one man who died in the crash were identified as Chinese nationals.

Several air ambulances and rescue crews were sent to assist and the injured have been taken to hospitals across southern Utah.

Some in a serious condition were airlifted.

The cause of the crash is still unknown, although it was revealed the driver was on his first with the company America Shengjia Inc.

"I grieve with all who lost loved ones in this crash and I’m grateful for the quick work of first responders, as well as all those who are volunteering to act as translators," tweeted Utah Governor Gary Herbert.

Bryce Canyon National Park is a popular natural attraction receiving more than two million visitors a year and is noted for its unique ‘hoodoo’ red rock formations.
