Four die as tourist boat capsizes in Italy
Four people are dead after a tourist boat capsized on Lake Maggiore, Italy in bad weather.
It was carrying around 25 passengers and crew.
According to Attilio Fontana, president of the Lombardy region, the boat was charted by tourists for a birthday cruise.
Local media reported a storm on the lake turned into a ‘small hurricane.’
It then capsized and sank.
The victims have not been named but are confirmed as two Italian citizens, one Israeli and one Russian.
Many of the survivors were able to swim ashore.
Situated near the Swiss border, Lake Maggiore is a popular tourist destination.
