Franchise swap for Kew Green Hotels
Kew Green Hotels, which operates 17 hotels under franchise agreements, is switching franchise agreements for 11 of its UK hotels from Marriott to InterContinental in May.
Instead of being branded Courtyard by Marriott they will become Holiday Inns under a 20 year licence agreement with InterContinental.
Refurbishments will take place at most hotels, including the upgrade of banqueting suites and the installation of air-conditioning in all bedrooms within 18 months.
Room service breakfast and ‘breakfast check-out’ will be introduced.
KGH said it felt the Holiday Inn brand was more appropriate for these full service hotels, which are located in towns and cities across the UK including Coventry, Reading, Slough and and Northampton.
It will continue its relationship with Marriott and is currently building a moderately priced, European-designed Courtyard by Marriott hotel at Gatwick Airport due to open in late 2008.
The company already operates three Express by Holiday Inns and three Days Hotels. It will open a new Holiday Inn in Norwich City Centre in April 2007.
