Fred Olsen to stretch new ship
Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines is to stretch its new ship Balmoral to increase passenger capacity by 350.
The ship, due to enter service next January, will have a capacity for 1,340 passengers in addition to expanded public areas following the 30m extension work.
Work on Balmoral, currently operating as Norwegian Crown for Norwegian Cruise Line, will take place between November and January, 2008, at the Blohm + Voss shipyard in Hamburg during a refit.
Balmoral’s planned inaugural activities are set for Dover from January 23, 2008. Initial itineraries will include a two week cruise to the Canary Islands followed by a transatlantic crossing for a short season of Caribbean cruises from Miami.
