Free Hotel Wi-fi: No thanks, says Issenberg
There are those who want their hotels to offer free wi-fi for guests and there are those who don’t.
Count Accor chairman and COO Michael Issenberg among those who hope to continue to charge for Internet connectivity.
Speaking at the Web in Travel conference last week, Issenberg said he would “probably not†offer free wi-fi in Accor hotels although he would “respond to competition†if necessary.
Paul Kerr, CEO of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, said he would like all SLH properties to offer free wi-fi but that decision is taken by each member property.
Marc Steinmeyer. President of Indonesia’s Tauzia Hotel Management, is firmly on the side of free wi-fi for guests, already available in Tauzia’s Harris Hotels and soon the new Pop!Harris economy brand hotels under development.
