French ATC strikes force flight cancellations
Airlines are warning of flight disruption today (Thursday) due to strike action by French air traffic controllers.
The workers are taking industrial action as part of a national strike in France which began last night.
"Yet again this will unfortunately bring another wave of unnecessary disruption for some customers travelling in Europe," said British Airways.
BA said it would be using larger aircraft where possible but might have to cancel flights.
Any customers due to fly to or from any French airport as well as Madrid and Barcelona today, regardless of whether their BA-operated flight is flying or not, can bring their flight forward ahead of the strike period or move it back to a date up to and including Saturday November 18.
All re-bookings are subject to availability.
"Unfortunately, if the threatened strikes go ahead, we will have to cancel some flights as a result of the strike action and other short haul flights may also experience some disruption, given how many flights would normally use French airspace each day," it said.
EasyJet has canceled a ‘small number of flights’ and said customers will be updated on their flight status via email and/or the mobile phone number provided at time of booking.~
Ryanair apologised to customers for the ‘unjustified ATC disruptions which are entirely outside of our control’.
