French blackmailers make more bomb threats
French blackmailers have reportedly repeated their threats to blow up sections of French railway track and have warned that they are “ready” to explode a bomb this week. As reported, the blackmailers say they have placed 10 bombs on sections of track around France and that they would blow up as trains passed by, once the bombs were armed. One bomb was discovered on a section of track near the city of Limoges two weeks ago, after police were tipped off. An attempt was even made to pass cash over to the blackmailers but it failed when police failed to find them at the specified location. Now, according to The Independent newspaper, French railways have been placed on the maximum terror alert – partly, of course, in response to Thursday’s bombings in Madrid. The AZF, which reportedly has no known Islamist or political connections, made its warnings in a letter to the president, Jacques Chirac. Report by Tim Gillett, News From Abroad
