French PM jeered at minute’s silence for Nice victims
French Prime Minister Manuel Valls has been booed by crowds on arrival for a minute’s silence to remember victims of last week’s attack in Nice.
Eighty-four people died when attacker Mohamed Lahouaiej-Bouhlel drove a hired lorry into crowds of people celebrating Bastille Day on Thursday.
Eighty-five people are in hospital, 49 described as serious and 18 of them in a critical condition. Several are still reported missing.
Of the dead, only 35 bodies have been officially identified so far and another 12 are expected to be identified today.
The third major attack in 18 months has led to criticism of the country’s leaders, with former French President Nicolas Sarkozy also saying the government is not doing enough to keep people secure.
