From the Regent Street Festival to a touch of Manhattan in London

Monday, 01 Sep, 2008 0

In September, London rolls out a whole slew of things to do and places to go.

On September 7, 2008,  Regent Street will be closed to traffic from 12 noon to 8pm welcoming people with an expected footfall of over 600,000 to the Regent Street Festival: A Great British Experience.

British boy band, AVENUE, who found fame on TV’s Ex Factor will kick things off by opening the festival at 12 noon, singing a selection of songs including their new single “Last Goodbye” which will go on sale the following day.

The Factory Theatre will be performing a full production of Hamlet live on Regent Street whilst the Royal Academy of Music is bringing a selection of musicians including string and brass ensembles and singers.

There will be British food stalls and traditional food quarters serving fish n chips and even British curry.  A veteran car display, taxi exhibit and urban picnic area will appear on Regent Street on the day.

Regent Street boasts a collection of international retailers with no less than 31 flagship stores, many of whom will be participating by offering an assortment of ‘British’ themed in-store activities, promotions and added value incentives.  Regent Street retailers and restaurants will be offering a celebratory 10% festival offer throughout the day.

A new brasserie, Broome & Delancey is bringing a touch of Manhattan to London with its open plan kitchen, champagne bar, and al fresco terrace. There are 2 dining spaces, serving some of America’s favourite dishes, alongside classic European cuisine.

Situated opposite the St Pancras Grand Champagne Bar, St Pancras Grand
aims to give an introduction to London and a quintessentially British dining experience. The restaurant will have an all day menu as well as special breakfast, elevenses and afternoon tea menus. There will also be a wine list featuring premium European wines.

The latest addition to the Frankie’s family, Frankie’s Sportsbar and Grill
is the first with a sporting twist. The restaurant serves Italian dishes and offers a family-friendly environment. To celebrate the opening, guests will receive 50% off the total food bill until September 17.

At Viva Verdi, the first prosciutto and wine bar in the capital, food is served in a range of hot and cold platters which includes a selection of rare Italian hams. The philosophy behind Viva Verdi is to reinterpret the traditions associated with Parma, the love of food and wine, and the celebration of life.

At Bel Canto diners will be able to enjoy cooking inspired by the South West of France in an operatic setting. Taken from two successful Bel Canto ventures in Paris, owner Jean Paul Maurel has decided to expand his proven formula for the first time ever. For further information visit the website

The RS Lounge is a new luxury 2-floor venue between East London and Epping Forest. There are 3 main areas in the bar: the Al Fresco Terrace, the Lounge Bar and the Main Bar. Already becoming a celebrity favourite, each room has a different ambience – from the LED lit ceiling of The Main Bar to the wooden decked terrace outside.
