Frontline agents offered ‘green travel’ training
Frontline agency staff are to be given tips on how to respond to customers’ questions on sustainable tourism.
An online training scheme developed for agents is designed to enable counter staff to improve their understanding of green travel issues.
The training, including a toolkit for managers, has been developed by charity The Travel Foundation and has been endorsed by ABTA.
Details are to be emailed to a database of agents early next month, with the training segmented to allow users to dip in and out.
“It is designed to give agents a clear understanding of what sustainable tourism is and how it is relevant to them,” a Travel Foundation statement released at the ABTA Travel Convention in Tenerife said.
The charity’s chief executive Sue Hurdle said: “We hope that these practical training tools will give key staff throughout all levels of the travel industry a greater insight into the issues of sustainable tourism and how they directly affect them, their customers and their businesses.”
