Galileo agents gain global Lufthansa fare parity
Cendant-owned Galileo has claimed a “ground breaking” new agreement securing global fare parity with all of Lufthansa’s direct sales channels and enhanced booking functionality for agents.
At the same time the German airline maintains its current online sales strategy with the GDS.
A Cendant statement said: “The global fare parity with all of Lufthansa’s direct sales channels will mean that Galileo-connected agents can be confident that the fares they offer their customers are the very best at a time when they are under increasing competitive pressure.
“Another key element of the agreement is that Galileo connected travel agents will see some key enhanced functionalities with Lufthansa.”
Cendant Travel Distribution Services vice-president supplier services Bryan Conway said: “This unique agreement is indicative of the way Cendant TDS is leading this evolution in the travel sector by being able to work with suppliers across all of their channels to maximize their distribution opportunities.
“It is vital to us that Galileo agents are able to offer their customers the best fares and service and this agreement ensures they can do that.”
Lufthansa cost management sales general manager Andres Haug said: “Cendant TDS has clearly demonstrated the value they can bring to our entire distribution strategy and we are delighted to have reached such an innovative agreement in line with that strategy.
“As one of Europe’s leading carriers, we recognize the value of our travel agency channel and we will benefit from the global reach of Galileo whilst ensuring that we achieve our financial objectives.”
