Galileo and GTA launch European city breaks promotion for agents
Galileo and its sister wholesaler company Gullivers Travel Associates (GTA) have launched a campaign to encourage travel agents to exploit the continuing boom in European city breaks.
Focusing on Paris, Rome, Barcelona, London, Amsterdam and Dublin, the Summer European City Savers campaign runs until the end of August and gives agents the chance to offer clients savings on accommodation and sightseeing tours.
According to World Travel Market research, city breaks have been the fastest-growing sector of European outbound travel in recent years, doubling in volume between 2000 and 2004.
But GTA’s vice president sales operations David Brown believes agents are not yet fully exploiting the market.
“Whether it’s a holiday, business or visiting friends and relatives, nearly 40% of all European outbound trips are now city breaks – but agents still aren’t focusing strongly enough on this type of product,” he said.
“It’s true that there is intense competition but our Summer European City Savers campaign will give agents access to great deals on hotels and tours in six of the most popular cities.
