Garuda and Bangkok Airways start code share pact
From today Indonesian flag carrier Garuda and Thailand’s Bangkok Airways will begin codesharing on selected flights.
The agreement allows Garuda customers seamless connections in Bangkok to a host of Thai and overseas destinations including Samui, Lampang, Phuket, Udon Thani, Krabi, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phnom Penh, Cambodia, Luang Prabang in Laos and Dhaka in Bangladesh.
Conversely, Bangkok Airways’ passengers are able to book through tickets travelling on Garuda’s extensive Indonesian network through Jakarta to Semarang, Yogyakarta, and Surabaya in Java, Bali and Singapore.
"The codeshare agreement allows the passengers to benefit from the networks of both airlines to travel between Thailand and Indonesia with ideal connectivity and increase travel flexibility," said Bangkok Airways’ senior vice president – network management, Peter Wiesner.
"This agreement is expected to boost trade and tourism activities by making Indonesia much more accessible for Thai visitors," added Erik Meijer, Garuda Indonesia’s EVP of sales and marketing.
