Garuda Indonesia, JAL deepen cooperation
Garuda Indonesia is strengthening its cooperation with Japan Airlines offering expanding options for their respective customers travelling between Japan and Indonesia.
A strategic partnership agreement takes effect from October 28, 2018 and allows Garuda to market and sell tickets on select transpacific routes operated by JAL
The airlines will also codeshare on international routes linking the two countries as well as connecting domestic services.
"We look forward to the partnership with Garuda Indonesia, who continuously strives through its transformation program. I truly believe we can provide our mutual customers the highest level of service," said Yuji Akasaka, JAL president.
The airlines aim to expand the scope of the codeshare agreement to include more routes and expand their frequent flyer programme cooperation.
The ultimate goal is to develop a joint business venture.
"This partnership is believed to offer a unique advantage for Garuda Indonesia’s passengers who will enjoy JAL’s unparalleled services including check-through service, lounge access, in-flight meal and other services," said Garuda CEO Pahala N. Mansury.
