Garuda names date for joining SkyTeam
Garuda Indonesia will join the SkyTeam airline alliance on March 5 next year.
The airline will become the 20th member.
SkyTeam said its membership would facilitate travel to Indonesia, where Bali is by far the biggest destination for UK holidaymakers.
Garuda, which plans to launch flights to the UK in May next year, operates non-stop flights from its national capital Jakarta to six SkyTeam hubs: Amsterdam, Seoul, Guangzhou, Beijing, Shanghai and Taipei.
"Joining SkyTeam marks another significant milestone in the company’s development, as we are now entering the stage of being a global player," said Garuda president Emirsyah Satar. "This is part of our strategy to extend our network worldwide while at the same time improving our service by facilitating a seamless and more convenient travel experience for our customers."
