Gas prices? Nowhere to go but up
Auto travelers won’t like it but any gas price drop will be short lived, according to AAA Auto Club South.
Retail gas prices are expected to gain back any price drops seen in the past couple of weeks “and then some,” said Jessica Brady, spokeswoman at AAA Auto Club South, despite recent reduced oil prices.
The simple reason: continued unrest in Libya and the Middle East.
News that the U.S. economy grew more than expected at a 3.1 percent annual rate in the fourth quarter of 2010 also pushed oil prices higher, according to a press statement release.
"Gas prices already reflect the increase in oil prices, with the national average up 3 cents from last week,” Brady said in the release.
The national average price of unleaded regular gasoline is $3.57 per gallon, 3 cents more than last week.
