G’day from Queensland………….
A news.com.au report says that Queenslanders are being encouraged to “say g’day” in a bid to boost overseas visitor numbers.
Premier Anna Bligh has launched a $40,000 promotional campaign to remind Queenslanders of the vital role they play in the state’s $3.3 billion international tourism industry.
“While we are blessed with some of the world’s most significant natural tourism attractions, time and time again international visitors say what they love most is the friendliness of the people,” Ms Bligh said during a visit to Caloundra, on the Sunshine Coast.
Over the past year, international visitor spending in Queensland has increased by more than $336 million (or 11 per cent) to $3.3 billion, and is expected to significantly rise over the next decade.
The campaign is part of the $48 million, 10-year Queensland Tourism Strategy.
