Genting Cruise Lines unveils private island cruising in Myanmar
Genting Cruise Lines plans to introduce Caribbean style private island cruising to Southeast Asia.
Genting signed an agreement with Tint Tint Myanmar Group to jointly develop cruise facilities at MacLeod Island in Myanmar.
It is a secluded island located in Southern Myanmar’s Myek archipelago.
It will be used on future itineraries for its three cruise brands Dream Cruises. star Cruises and Crystal Cruises.
"’Private Islands are a key feature for many cruise lines in the Caribbean and, as a pioneer of the Asian cruise industry, we are excited to be partnering with Tint Tint Myanmar Group to help create the infrastructure on MacLeod Island to become a key private paradise for Genting Cruise Lines’ guests and to start Myanmar on its journey to become a worldwide cruise destination," said Kent Zhu, President of Genting Cruise Lines.
It marks Myanmar’s first collaboration with a foreign cruise firm on cruise port development.
Tint Tint Myanmar Group will leverage its local expertise to offer entertainment and shore excursion options for Genting cruise guests.
Star Cruises’ ship SuperStar Libra celebrated its iinaugural port call at McLeod Island last week and Dream Cruises’ Genting Dream begins calling at the island later this month.
"To further enhance our Southeast Asia itineraries, we have designed new cruise itineraries for both Star Cruises and Dream Cruises that will allow our guests to enjoy the exclusivity of a private island, which indeed will be a rare and unforgettable experience for many travellers," Zhu added.
