Germany tightens security after new terrorist threat
Security is being tightened at airports and railway stations across Germany after a new threat of terrorism has emerged.
The country’s interior minister has said extra security measures will be in place until further notice after a tip-off from an unnamed country gave “concrete indications” of attacks planned for the end of this month.
Thomas de Maiziere told a news conference in Berlin: "There are grounds for concern, but not for hysteria.”
He said the warning had come after parcel bombs were discovered on cargo planes last month.
One of the bombs had been sent via the German city of Cologne but was intercepted in the UK.
