Get covered at 35,000 feet
Travellers who forget to take out insurance before they set off will be able to sort out their cover mid-flight – as long as you are flying with Ryanair.
The insurance company Primary1 is teaming up with the no-frills carrier to offer the new product; passengers will be able to buy a policy from cabin crew on any Ryanair flight and they effectively activate the policy when they arrive at their destination by calling a 24-hour “hotline”.
The group’s managing director John Bibby told the Daily Telegraph that the group would look at expanding the scheme to other airlines if the Ryanair deal proves successful.
The insurance company came up with the new product after research showed that nearly 15% of travellers abroad do not have suitable insurance. The new policy will cost GBP15 and gives 31 days’ European cover.
