Trade-only accommodation specialist Getabed.co.uk has reported its biggest ever sales day after booking levels on Monday peaked at 106% more than the same Monday last year.
The company, based in Hove, East Sussex, puts the spike down to customers unable to take the miserable weather anymore and feeling down after Christmas.
Said managing director Matt Stuart said: "It seems that our travel agent partners capitalised on bad UK weather, the January blues and great value pricing in order to get their customers the very best holiday that day. We are delighted with how 2011 has started off and indications are that our growth shows no sign of slowing down."
Stuart said sales for Dubai were up 82%, for Australia by 71% and Spain by 33%.
