Global Ecotourism Conference Announced
The first global ecotourism conference since UN International Year of Ecotourism 2002 is to be held in Norway this May.
Co-organized by TIES (The International Ecotourism Society), Ecotourism Norway, and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the Global Ecotourism Conference 2007 marks the first international conference on ecotourism since the United Nations’ International Year of Ecotourism in 2002. Bringing together leading ecotourism professionals from around the world, the conference will assess a range of critical issues and trends within the field of ecotourism, and discuss practical strategies in addressing challenges facing the ecotourism community. The conference is being supported by a range of UN agencies and leading environmental organizations, as well as the government of Norway.
In order to ensure fair Early-bird regional representation and diversity among the conference delegates, the conference organizers are offering a limited number of scholarships to qualified ecotourism professionals from developing countries. Details of the scholarship opportunities are available through the conference website.
Conference co-organisers are The International Ecotourism Society (TIES), Ecotourism Norway and UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme). And the conference will be co-hosted by The United Nations Foundation and UNESCO. Conference partners include Environmental Defense, IUCN, National Geographic Society, Pan Parks Foundation, Rainforest Alliance, Ecoclub and E (the Environment Magazine).
Registration is available until March 1, 2007 and all TIES members receive a 10% discount on registration.
