Go to distribute through trade via Galileo
Go has announced that it is to use GDS Galileo as a trade distribution channel.
The deal will give travel agents access to Go’s fares through Galileo’s global distribution system. A spokesperson for Galileo explained to TravelMole that this means agents will be able to book a traditional airline ticket for the first leg of a journey, then book a Go ticket for the second leg, and both will show on the same itinerary.
Go said it will start by offering domestic UK flights, soon to be followed by flights to European destinations.
Oliver Wigdahl, head of sales at Go, said: “Our relationship with the trade is very important to us and we are delighted to be able to work more closely with them. Via Galileo, over 44,000 travel agents worldwide will be able to access Go’s low fares, at levels typically around 50% lower than traditional airlines. This means that they can provide a more competitive service for their clients.”
Net fares will be accessible in Galileo and a flat £10 tax rate applied to each one way booking. Go said that agents are free to add a mark up to the total fare as Go fares do not attract commission. Agents will not have to pay the credit card fee.
Robin Ranken, Director Airline Sales for Galileo’s EMEA Region said: “This relationship with Go proves that Galileo has the innovative solutions to work with the low cost airlines. We listened very closely to their requirements and we have provided them with a robust solution which enables them to reach wider distribution channels.”
Galileo will run alongside Go’s dedicated travel agent website www.go-fly.com/travelagent, which will continue to offer a £10 discount on every return fare booked (£5 per single journey) and an additional travel agent exclusive discount of 3%.
