Good morning from Fiji and Sonaisali Island Resort
Hey guys – it could be worse I suppose, waking up at Sonaisali, pictured right this morning, with the Pacific lapping outside my fabulous villa, the birds singing, the warm breeze blowing through the palms and this is country that the Australian Government is telling us not to visit!
Let me say that so far I have seen nothing that would not make me want to visit Fiji – nothing at the airport, nothing driving over here in my rental car, nothing at Sonaisali, except calm laid back and the way it always has been – the Fiji that we all know and love.
I asked on of the staff, what did the coup mean to him and he said, nothing really except that some of his mates were laid off, but as the resort was now running at well over 80% he hoped they would be back at work soon as they need the income to keep their families fed – he was also glad that he was not laid off!
So Mr Downer this morning in your comfortable Canberra give a few seconds thought for the Fijian people and how they are affected by your travel advisory.
The Kiwis and the Brits having downgraded theirs, but where are the Aussies?
Remember, the Fijians depend on Australia for a living and they say that the Aussie advisory is now becoming a sanction on Fiji!
Yes, I think a lie in is called for ——–oops, no this in sadly no holiday ——-sorry got to go——-the life of The Mole on the road! People to meet, resorts to explore, boats to catch – only five resorts today and a boat trip to Castaway!
