Government requires mandatory form for outbound international travel
Starting from 8 March, all travellers heading overseas from England will be required to show they have documented permission to travel.
The trip must be permitted under the stay at home restrictions via a Declaration to Travel form which will be checked at border points.
It can be downloaded at the gov.uk website.
It is an offence not to have a completed form and it could lead to a minimum £200 fine as well as denial of travel.
The form is not required for travel within the UK , to Ireland, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man.
Airlines will check the forms either during online or physical check-in procedures or at the departure gate prior to boarding.
Police will conduct spot checks with passengers at UK ports.
Exemptions to travel overseas include for education or work purposes.
Under the current conditions of the roadmap out of lockdown for England, the earliest people can travel overseas for tourism is 17 May.
This date is still subject to various conditions being met such as the rate of completed vaccinations and containing the spread of Covid-19 variants.
