Great Eagle flies the wine route to New Zealand

HONG KONG – Langham Hotels International (LHI) has signed a new management agreement which takes Langham Place, a sister brand of The Langham, outside Asia.

The luxury hotel operator will manage the five-star boutique Vineyard Resort + Spa on behalf of Isola Estate on Waiheke Island, an enclave 30 minutes off the coast of Auckland. It will open in 2010.

The resort will be situated amongst the 26 award-winning vineyards of Waiheke Island, including its own vineyard

The management agreement with Isola Estate marks the sixth Langham Place branded property in the world.

The resort will include 78 Tuscan-style contemporary condominium-style rooms and suites, a Chuan Spa, gym, tennis courts and restaurant, as well as extensive meeting and banquet facilities for up to 300 people.

The island resort’s interactive wine theatre will form the heart of a special events showcase for conferences, meetings, incentive groups, banquets and wine tours.

Langham Place Vineyard Resort + Spa, Waiheke Island is eight minutes by helicopter and 30 minutes by ferry from downtown Auckland.

Langham Hotels International is the subsidiary of the Hong Kong-based Great Eagle Holdings, spearheaded by Dr. KS Lo, who is also the chairman and managing director of Great Eagle Holdings, whose properties – either open or under construction – offer 5,000 rooms in 11 cities, namely Auckland, Beijing, Boston, Changchun, Hong Kong, Koh Lanta, London, Melbourne, Pasadena, Shanghai and Toronto
