Great Wolf Resorts names new CEO
Water park operator Great Wolf Resorts Inc has named a former cruise executive as its new CEO.
Ruben Rodriguez will become Great Wolf Resorts’ new chief executive on September 22, replacing Kimberly Schaefer, who will remain with the company as chief brand officer until the end of the year.
"I am impressed by the great brand and compelling business model that Great Wolf has built under Kim’s leadership. As the leader in indoor water park resorts, Great Wolf has excelled in creating special and memorable experiences at each Lodge," said Rodriguez.
"I am eager to work with the management team to continue building and growing the Great Wolf brand."
Rodriguez is a former executive vice president, ship operations at Carnival Cruise Line who was responsible for a fleet of 24 cruise ships.
Prior to that Rodriguez was partner and managing director at The Boston Consulting Group.
The leadership shake-up comes months after the company was acquired by New York investment firm Centerbridge Partners.
Great Wolf operates indoor water park resorts in 12 North American locations including Kansas City, Niagara Falls, Pocono Mountains and Charlotte, NC.
Two further resorts are due to open next year in Garden Grove, CA, and Colorado Springs.
