Greek strike set to disrupt travel
A 24-hour general strike is set to cause disruption to travellers in Greece today (Thursday).
EasyJet is advising its passengers to allow extra time to get to and from Athens Airport as public transport will not be fully operating, leading to more traffic congestion.
"There is also a possibility of gas stations being closed throughout the day," it warned.
"We therefore advise all customers to allow additional time for their journey to and from the airport and to check local traffic information for the latest travel updates."
Although its flights are not expected to be affected, it also advised passengers to check the status of their flight on its Flight Tracker page.
Greek airline Aegean and its sister airline Olympic Air have been forced to cancel a total of 66 domestic flights today, due to the action.
The strike, which is in protest against pension reforms as part of Greece’s third international bailout, will also hit ferries, schools, and hospitals.
