Co-operative Travel Group managing director Mike Greenacre has won a “fiercely contested” election with Johnny Pollard (On the Beach) to be elected to the ABTA board.
Greenacre will represent retailers with a turnover of over £20 million.
ABTA chef executive Mark Tanzer said: “Congratulations to Mike for his election back to the ABTA board in what is a very important time for ABTA and the industry.
“Mike has been a source of invaluable advice over the past three years, and provides us with stability to tackle the future.”
Greenacre said: “I am delighted to have been elected to the ABTA Board and look forward to continue the fight against rises in APD, and in continuing to put pressure on UK and EU Governments with regards to reforming consumer protection.
“In the coming months our industry is facing enormous change and I hope that my continued presence on the ABTA Board will help ABTA to lead our industry to a successful and profitable future.”
Meanwhile, Michael Knowles (Complete World Travel) has been elected to ABTA’s Council of Regions to represent ABTA members based in the Midland region, after contesting the post with Charles Eftichiou (Moseley Travel), who has sat on ABTA committees for over 14 years.
Knowles said: “I am delighted to have been chosen to represent the views of all ABTA members in the Midland region. The ABTA voice must continue to remain strong in this wonderful industry of ours.”
