GTA, Silkair promoting Singapore stays
Global travel distributor GTA has inked a deal with Singapore Airlines’ regional affiliate Silkair for a joint marketing campaign aimed at luring more visitors to Singapore.
The year-long S$2 million deal will be focused on increasing awareness of Singapore tourism with travel agents in the 48 destinations that Silkair serves.
The campaign will primarily highlight the Lion City’s affordability for Asian travellers.
"With increasing competition from neighbouring destinations, visitors to Singapore fell 3.1 percent to 15.1 million in 2014, the first drop since 2009. We want to improve awareness among travel agents of all that Singapore has to offer travellers and particularly address misconceptions that it is expensive," said Daryl Lee, GTA’s regional vice president of sales and marketing for Asia Pacific, the Middle East & Africa.
"Connecting 48 locations with value for money travel to Singapore, our partnership with SilkAir is certain to bring dividends to the country’s tourism industry."
Despite the fall in visitor arrivals last year, GTA helped bring nearly a million tourists to Singapore.
