The Guild of Travel Management Companies has made two new appointments for its executive council.
Derek Barlow of Wings Corporate Travel and Mervyn Williamson of Statesman Travel will take their places on the council from January 18 when the GTMC AGM is held.
GTMC chief executive Anne Godfrey said: “The GTMC executive council is our working board and the members on it bring experience, expertise and knowledge of the UK’s business travel sector. Without them my job would be much more difficult. For such busy senior management to give up their time for the voluntary roles on the GTMC Executive Council shows a massive commitment to the business travel community that the GTMC represents. ”
Barlow has sat on the council before when he was managing director at Travel Alliance, acquired by Wings Corporate Travel in 2009. He is now director of supplier relations and industry affairs.
Williamson is joint managing director of Statesman Travel, having entered the travel industry back in 1991 as financial controller for American Airlines.
Other members of the executive council are chairman Michael Hare of Portman Travel, treasurer Travel by Appointments’ Maurice Veronique, Carlson Wagonlit’s Andrew Waller; Graham Ramsey of ATP International; Alan Spence of Fcm Travel; Ajay Sodha of Key Travel; Ian Allan Travel’s Paul Allan and Richard Boardman of Reed & Mackay Travel.
