Gulf Air puts name on QPR shirts
Gulf Air has signed a three-year shirt sponsorship deal with Championship football club QPR.
The Bahrain-based carrier’s branding will feature on all the London club’s team kit.
The agreement, for an undisclosed sum, will also see the introduction of a Gulf Air supporter loyalty scheme, the possibility of a football community scounting programme in the Middle East and various community-based initiatives in Bahrain and London.
Gulf Air CEO Bjorn Naf said: “Like QPR, Gulf Air is building a phenomenal success story and with it a powerful global brand with a class leading product.
“The UK market is incredibly important for Gulf Air and for Bahrain as a nation and we are delighted to be strengthening our ties further.”
He added: “This deal offers a multitude of opportunities for the people of Bahrain and we are working with QPR to roll out a variety of initiatives aimed at supporting grass roots football in Bahrain.”
The airline is the latest travel company to become involved in football sponsorship in the UK at various levels following the likes of Thomas Cook at Manchester City, Emirates at Arsenal and AirAsia at Manchester United.
