Hainan Island expands Covid lockdowns
After nearly 500 new Covid cases, the capital of China’s Hainan Island was placed under lockdown. Haikou city was temporarily locked down joining an ongoing lockdown of Sanyo since Saturday.
Tourists in Sanya are required to isolate at their hotels for up to a week.
About 80,000 tourists are reportedly stranded there.
Other cities in Hainan are also under lockdown measures.
Hainan Island is one of the top beach destinations and is known as China’s Hawaii.
