HAL cruise norovirus outbreak sickens dozens
The first major norovirus cruise ship outbreak of the year recently sickened dozens of guests.
Holland America Line reported 81 guests ill along with 8 crew members during a Caribbean cruise aboard HAL’s Rotterdam ship.
Diarrhea and vomiting were the main symptoms.
As it departed in late December just before the holiday, it has been classified as a 2025 outbreak.
The New year cruise ended on January 9.
HAL said most cases were mild.
“Consistent with CDC protocols, we conducted a comprehensive sanitization of the ship when the cruise ended in Fort Lauderdale,” the cruise line said.
The voyage visited Curaçao, Colombia, Costa Rica and Jamaica.
