Harlequin takes legal action over online smear campaign
A luxury resort operator is taking legal action claiming it has been the victim of an online smear campaign.
Harlequin Hotels and Resorts – which run Caribbean resorts like the Buccament Bay resort in St Vincent and the Grenadines – says it has identified who is behind a malicious website which was set up and is taking legal action.
Chairman David Ames said he is now in possession of conclusive forensic evidence as to who is responsible and lawyers are using the evidence to commence legal action.
He called for anyone who has been contacted by those involved in the smear campaign to get in touch with Harlequin.
In a statement to agents, tour operators and clients, he said: "As you may be aware, for the last six months or so, Harlequin has been the victim of a vicious, online smear campaign which has criticised the business model and operation of my companies.
"I wanted you to know, as soon as I properly could, that in taking these significant steps we will leave no stone unturned and will be seeking legal redress against the individuals behind the campaign to ensure that they are publicly held to account for their cowardly actions."
