Harry Goodman to talk at Travel Luncheon Club

Friday, 14 Mar, 2017 0

Travel industry legend Harry Goodman will be the guest speaker at the Travel Luncheon Club next month.

He will share his views on the current industry and recall anecdotes from his career spanning five decades at the Dorchester Hotel, London, on April 6.

In the 1970s, Goodman founded Sunair Holidays, then Intasun, which became International Leisure Group (ILG). He also started low-cost carrier Air Europe.

ILG was one of the most successful in the 1970s and 1980s, and Goodman’s flamboyant lifestyle made the pages of the national press.

After ILG but went bust in March 1991, Goodman and Dennis Strauss founded TV Travel Group, which operated TV Travel Shop, later selling the company to American broadcaster USA Networks.

The company marketed holidays on TV and the sale reportedly netted a personal receipt for Goodman of £4.2 million on an investment of £200,000.

After that, Goodman ran Totally Travel and Total Travel Leisure Holidays, which operated a number of divisions.

The Travel Luncheon Club has brought together senior professionals in the industry in an informal forum to share experiences and discuss the future since 1931.
