Hawaii looking to draw more visitors in the slow season
The Hawaii Visitors & Convention Bureau is launching a multi-million dollar campaign to lure travelers this fall, their slowest season for travel to the islands.
The campaign was announced at a time when Hawaii has already had a record year. There were 3.6 million visitors in the first half of 2005, a 7% increase over the same time in 2004.
Hawaii promoters are advertising a new Web that allows users to choose from more than 180 activities on six Hawaiian Islands.
“Higher spending, activity-oriented travelers” are the target market for the fall, said John Monahan, president and CEO of the state’s visitors bureau.
