Hawaii urges travelers not to cancel after heavy flooding

Wednesday, 25 Mar, 2026 0

Hawaii tourism officials have urged travelers not to cancel trips after days of heavy rains caused widespread flooding.

Floods have damaged homes and led to evacuations for thousands on Oahu.

Heavy rains also damaged some roads on Maui.

The flooding is ‘no reason to cancel or postpone upcoming trips. Conditions are expected to improve gradually this week,” the Hawaii Tourism Authority said.

However, for tourists in Hawaii now, there may still be ‘some localized disruptions.’

Motorists are advised to check online for possible road closures.

Some Oahu hotels have been ordered to offer resident rates for Hawaiians evacuated from their homes, Hawaii Emergency Management said.

These are being offered at hotels  on Waikiki Beach.
