Hayman Scoops Luxury Awards
Hayman has scooped two major awards in Luxury Travel Magazine’s Gold List for 2006, being named Best Australian Resort and Best Australian Island.
The awards, which were presented at a prestigious function in Sydney on 12 December, follow Hayman’s success in November in The World Travel Awards, in which the acclaimed Great Barrier Reef destination was voted Australia’s Leading Resort for the second successive year in a poll of 156,000 travel agencies and professionals in 140 countries.
The Luxury Travel Gold List, in which Hayman last year also featured as Best Australian Island, was voted on by readers and subscribers of Luxury Travel Magazine together with clients of Virtuoso – the exclusive collection of luxury travel agents in Australia and New Zealand, all of whom were asked to nominate their favourite luxury travel experiences in 22 major categories.
Hayman Director of Sales and Marketing, Anna Guillan, said the awards were especially significant, with Hayman having been voted on by the travel savvy Virtuoso clientele and Luxury Travel readership as the best in its field in Australia.
“It is a tribute to everyone on Hayman that we have been judged number one in our all important Australian consumer market,” Ms Guillan said.
Hayman has enjoyed tremendous success in Australian awards during this year, including induction into the National Travel Industry Awards’ prestigious Hall of Fame after being named Best Hotel/Resort in Australia for the third successive year, Resort of the Year in the HM Awards, Best Meetings Venue in the Australian Meetings & Events Awards and Best Incentive Venue in The Quorum Awards.
Meanwhile, Hayman’s new destinational health and spa experience, Spa Chakra Hayman, which opened last July, was runner up in the category of Best Australian Spa in Luxury Travel Magazine’s Gold List.
Internationally, Hayman continues to feature in UK Conde Nast Traveller’s Readers’ Travel Awards, US Conde Nast Traveler’s Gold List and Travel + Leisure’s Top 500 Greatest Hotels of the World.
