Heathrow: 90% of flights operating

More than 90% of flights are operating at Heathrow today, the airport said this morning.
As the big getaway kicks off, seeing hundreds of thousands of people setting off for their Christmas break, Heathrow expects to see 200,000 people travelling today – 20,000 more than on a typical day.
However, as the snow left many planes and crew stranded in the wrong country, there are still likely to be many delays and cancellations.
BAA is urging travellers to go to its website www.heathrow.com where it has published a list of flights operating. There is also a live information board showing the status of flights for the next 12 hours.
