HELP – An Individual Blueprint for Voluntourism in Senegal

Tuesday, 11 Feb, 2008 0

HELP is a small incoming operator in Senegal.

H.E.L.P. stands for Human Experience Linking Project: a non-profit association to promote Local Community Development Programs, through special and unique Responsible Tourism itineraries.

Different levels of intervention are available, according to the type of participation chosen by the Traveler.

HELP assures a fair sustainable development of the local economy, by employing only local guides, workers and artists; by buying food and items locally; by promoting local activities, restaurants, markets and fairs.

20% of the cost of HELP Voluntourism trips is invested directly into the specific humanitarian project

20% of the cost of HELP Adventure&Discovery trips is invested directly into a Community-Based Development Projects Fund, used as to assure a continuous support to the communities HELP is committed with.

HELP works together with communities, families and groups of people they have personally met and visited before;

HELP projects firmly promote a permanent development of the local economy, by assuring and providing needs, items and materials to local workforces, as farmers, croppers, agriculturalist, fishermen, women’s associations and artistic groups, who can then continue or restart their activities.

Traditions and beliefs are deeply respected, considered as precious treasures that our Planet still nurtures;

Days of participating are alternated with excursions and visits into the beautifully preserved Casamance Region, West towards the Ocean and East towards the mountains of Guinea Conakry; Only local guides are employed, as for their deep knowledge of the millenarian customs and rituals still alive in these areas.
