Helpful advice for businesses to plan for World Youth Day
The Office of Industrial Relations (NSW Department of Commerce) has published useful information to help employers and employees plan for World Youth Day 2008 (WYD 2008) in Sydney from Tuesday, 15 to Sunday, 20 July 2008, during the second week of the July school holidays.
Attracting pilgrims from more than 170 nations, and around Australia, WYD 2008 will be the biggest event ever staged in Australia. It will also feature the first visit of Pope Benedict XVI to Australia, which is expected to attract significant local interest.
The Office of Industrial Relations has updated its website with important information for businesses that may be affected by the changed traffic and transport conditions.
Important advice is offered for employers who may be considering alternative business arrangements, such as allowing employees to work from home or take leave during the event.
Employers and employees are also reminded to allow for extra time to get to and from work during the week and to keep track of the latest traffic and transport arrangements.
Businesses should visit www.industrialrelations.nsw.gov.au for more details.
