Hertz nears purchase of Dollar Thrifty
Reuters reports that Hertz Global Holdings is nearing a purchase of Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group for about $2.5 billion dollars.
The news agency says the source of the information is anonymous because the matter is not public.
Hertz and its competitor, The Avis Budget Group have both been eyeing acquisition of Dollar Thrifty for several years. The on again, off again deals have stalled because of price haggling and regulatory issues.
Those issues would be cleared for a merger now if Hertz wins approval from the Federal Trade Commission after selling off its similar budget brand, Advantage.
Final confirmation of the sale was expected by experts at the top of this week.
