Hilton to debut Canopy brand in Caribbean
Hilton has unveiled plans to open the first Canopy by Hilton hotel in the Caribbean.
Canopy by Hilton Cancun La Isla will debut in late 2019, featuring 175 guest rooms.
It is located in Cancun’s largest shopping center, the Isla Mall, and adjacent to the Fashion Harbour luxury wing.
It will focus on ‘local design, art, food, drink and social areas’ Hilton said.
It was announced as part of a broader multi-brand Mexico expansion which includes the first two Curio hotels in Mexico City and a Hilton-branded hotel in Monterrey.
"With Mexico a constant priority in our regional expansion plans, we have gravitated toward Monterrey and Cancun as the cities represent two of the most active markets in the country," said Juan Corvinos, vice president, development, Caribbean and Latin America at Hilton.
Hilton currently has a total of 60 hotels in Mexico and last year began a strategic alliance with Playa Hotels and Resorts.
