Holiday Inn walks away from Wellington property
IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) will withdraw management and remove its branding from the Holiday Inn Wellington from March 10.
Following failure of the hotel’s ownership structure, IHG has been unable to reach an equitable commercial agreement with the new owners.
The inability to secure agreement from the new owners to participate in the global Holiday Inn refresh programme – a three-year, US$1 billion programme of upgrading and re-launching Holiday Inn Hotels & Resorts worldwide – was also a contributing factor.
IHG said Holiday Inn Wellington has performed strongly under its management and branding since its opening in 2007.
IHG’s presence in New Zealand’s capital city remains through InterContinental Wellington.
IHG’s network of hotels across New Zealand has also been bolstered by the recent arrival of Holiday Inn Rotorua.
