Holiday Taxis acquires UK transfer firm
Overseas transfer company Holiday Taxis has acquired UK taxi operator Where2Guv for an undisclosed sum.
The deal means that the company will be able offer transfers from travellers’ homes in the UK to the airport, as well as picking them up on arrival in resorts and cities in more than 40 countries.
Holiday Taxis, established five years ago, works with 7,500 UK travel agents.
The seven Where2Guv staff will be retained at their Hailsham, East Sussex office, and managing director Stephen Dean will report to Holiday Taxis chief executive Paul Stanyer. The 27-strong Holiday Taxis team is based in Burgess Hill, West Sussex.
The Where2Guv brand name will be retained. Where2Guv started trading four years ago, allowing consumers and agents to book transfers from fixed locations or from postcode-to-postcode with the ability to calculate prices and book online.
Stanyer said: “Acquiring Where2Guv gives us the capability to arrange transfers quickly and efficiently for customers while they are in the UK as well as overseas. We can now cater for any journey within the UK and Ireland as well as any party size.”
He added: “Holiday Taxis has worked with Where2Guv on a partnership basis for the three years. Since the inception of Holiday Taxis we have identified the UK market as a key area for growth via our existing and prospective distribution channels, and for both leisure and corporate clients.
“Rather than reinvent the wheel we decided acquisition would be a far faster route to fulfil these ambitions.”
He added: “Currently most of the business comes via affiliate and corporate partners so there is a huge opportunity for agents to grow their transfer business by offering UK airport pick-ups as well as those in resort.
“Agents will benefit from the acquisition by having domestic and overseas transfers able to be booked in one place – and more cheaply than before. They will also of course be earning commission for both UK and overseas transfers.
“For corporate clients in particular the fact that we can now arrange transfers in the UK means we can arrange transfers from domestic airports for business associates flying over for conventions or meetings, for example.”
