Holiday without Travel? Try a Staycation!
STAYCATION? It’s a play on the word vacation and is meant to mean a vacation or holiday which is taken at or close to home, thus saving on the high cost of a long distance vacation, usually to a foreign country.
“With tourists being squeezed financially across the world, many are being forced to cut down or abandon vacation trips totally. Fuel costs for all types of travel has soared in recent times, coupled with living cost rising and incomes and job security become riskier†Says Stay Swaps, the organisation promoting the idea.
“No longer can many families afford to splash out thousands on vacation and holiday trips, couple this with delays and frustrations with airports and rail services which can turn many costly breaks into a stressful nightmare, rather than a relaxing break.â€
“Having a staycation is not for everyone, but it does prove that you can still have a budget vacation that is very individual and unique. Not only do you save money, but also learn about others, yourself, and how simple things can add real value to a vacation or holiday, something money alone cannot buy.â€ã€€
