Holidaymaker held for hours after being mistaken for ‘jihadi bride’
A holidaymaker was held for nine hours by armed Tunisian border guards after she was mistaken for a British ‘jihadi bride’.
Mother of two Sally Jones, along with her husband and two children, was heading to the Tunisian resort of Port El Kantaoui when they were led away by border guards.
Officials thought she was another Sally Jones, a Muslim convert from Kent who is believed to have travelled to Syria to join ISIS.
Mrs Jones told the Daily Mail: "The whole experience was extremely traumatic for all of us. It was nearly nine hours they held us for. They told us nothing and were really threatening.
"They just kept telling me Sally Jones had a passport with the same date of birth as me, and that we looked similar. That was the only thing we were told."
The family was only released when Mrs Jones repeatedly told officials her maiden name.
She added: "Finally they said we could go and they escorted us from the airport and left us outside.
"We ended up getting on a German coach to the hotel, having missed a whole day of our holiday, not to mention the trauma."
