Holidaymakers warned off insurance from agents
The Post Office is warning holidaymakers against buying insurance from a travel agent without shopping around first.
Post Office travel services has estimated that holidaymakers will be spending £100 million more than necessary on holiday insurance in the first quarter of 2003.
It says that two-thirds of holidaymakers still buy travel insurance from an agent, not realising they can search around elsewhere. A statement said “holidaymakers often end up paying too much for too little cover”.
The Post Office has launched its campaign to warn holidaymakers to shop around, just as the peak booking period starts. Its tips include not feeling pressured to buy insurance from an agent, always reading the small print, particularly if taking part in sports, and to make sure all family members are covered if buying family cover.
